Doing the GGA Test Should be Easy - Here Is Help.

SM5210B Sec. 6 details GGA requirements. While plus or minus 30.5mg/L windows might appear pretty generous, GGA degradation to non-conforming levels can happen pretty quickly once it starts and then you are stuck rejecting data and trouble shooting your analytical system. By eliminating the GGA solution itself as a potential problem, you will eliminate at least 1/3 of your system from trouble shooting in the event of a non-conforming GGA and probably more than 50% of your non-conformances.

This can be done using controlled manufacturing processes to deliver a guaranteed stable GGA in error-proof packaging.

The typical GGA solution can be made in your lab or purchased as a bulk solution from various suppliers. Both methods have some problems. Making it yourself requires drying, weighing and dilution of the neat materials and each step adds error. While commercial bulk solutions eliminate these steps, neither method (making it yourself or buying in bulk) addresses the degradation that occurs due to bacterial contamination-the leading cause of GGA degradation. Each time you open a bottle of 300mg/L GGA, some bacterial contamination can occur and bugs really like GGA.

And, finally, both of these methods then require pipeting 6mL of the solution up to 300mL to get the 2% test solution. This is another error prone step.

To eliminate these error prone steps and the possibility of bacterial degradation of the GGA solution, we have designed a single use packaging concept, added a rigorous product analytical certification step and developed a post packaging sterilization routine. The result is a certified, stable and ready-to-use GGA solution that will not degrade and will not be part of your problem.

- Manufactured from dry, high purity glucose and l-glutamic acid in large lots.

- Homogenized after dissolution, the solution is then packaged under inert gas in exact 6mL aliquots in single use vials(our delivery system is accurate to 0.5%).

- After packaging, the entire lot is sterilized making the solution stable indefinitely at room temperature.

- Finally, the accuracy and homogeneity of the packaging run is verified by analysis.

To use this product, all the analyst has to do is quantitatively transfer the contents of one vial to the 300mL BOD bottle with a couple of rinsings of clean dilution water and bring the solution up to the 300mL mark. They do not need a pipet.

All sources of GGA solution error are addressed and eliminated with this product. Packaged at 24 vials for $45 under Part# QCI-081.
